Data Subject Rights

Version v1.0-2026-09

POPIA gives you rights over the personal information we hold about you. This page explains those rights, how to make a privacy or data request, how to have an account or listing deleted, and what to expect from us.

1. Your rights

To be told what personal information we hold about you and to be given access to it.

To ask us to correct or complete information that is inaccurate, misleading, outdated or incomplete.

To ask us to delete or destroy information we no longer have a lawful reason to keep.

To object, on reasonable grounds, to our processing of your information.

To withdraw a consent you gave, at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out lawfully before the withdrawal.

To object to direct marketing and to be told where we obtained your information.

Not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that has legal consequences for you. We do not make such decisions.

To complain to us and to the Information Regulator, and to seek civil relief.

2. How to make a privacy or data request

Send your request by email to the Information Officer at [ADMIN PLACEHOLDER — Information Officer email address], or through the Contact page, and mark it "Data request".

Tell us: your full name, the email address or mobile number you used on the platform, what you are asking for (access, correction, deletion, objection or withdrawal of consent), and the property advert, buyer request or account it relates to.

For access, correction or deletion requests involving your own personal information we may ask for reasonable proof of identity before we act, so that we do not disclose your information to someone else.

A formal request for access to a record may also be made under PAIA. See the PAIA Manual.

3. How long we take

We acknowledge requests as soon as reasonably possible and aim to complete them within 30 days. If we need longer, or need more information from you, we will tell you and explain why.

If we cannot action a request in full — for example because we must keep a record for legal, tax or dispute-handling reasons — we will tell you which part we cannot action and why.

We do not charge for a straightforward request. Fees prescribed under PAIA may apply to a formal PAIA access request.

4. Buyer requests and withdrawing consent

A Find Me a Property request is shared with registered estate agents on the basis of the consent you gave, and stops being visible to agents 14 days after submission.

You may withdraw your consent or ask us to remove your request before it expires. Once withdrawn, we stop sharing it, although agents who already received it may still hold their own copy and remain responsible for it under POPIA.

5. Account deletion

Estate agents and other account holders may ask us to close and delete an account by emailing the Information Officer or using the Contact page from the email address on the account.

When an account is deleted we remove or de-identify the profile, remove the agent's adverts from public view, and delete the associated photographs and uploaded documents from storage, except where a record must be retained.

We may retain limited records — such as payment, tax, subscription and complaint records, and records of consent — for as long as the law requires or a legitimate dispute-handling or fraud-prevention purpose exists. Retained records are kept access-restricted and are not used for any other purpose.

Deletion is permanent. Adverts, inspection records and files removed in this way cannot be restored, so export anything you need first.

6. Information about others

If you are an agent, landlord or property professional who has uploaded information about another person, you remain responsible for having a lawful basis for that upload. If that person contacts us, we may need to refer them to you or share their request with you so it can be dealt with properly.

7. If you are not satisfied

Raise it with us first through the Complaints page so we can try to resolve it.

You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at complaints.IR@inforegulator.org.za, or visit https://inforegulator.org.za for the prescribed complaint forms.
